Business card dimensions
Standard US business card size is 3.5 x 2 inches (889x508px at 254 DPI). UK and EU standard is 85x55mm (the CR80 format). In Camisual, set your canvas to 1050x600px for a high-resolution US card at 2x, or 992x638px for the EU format at the same scale.
Step-by-step: Design a business card
- 1
Set up the canvas
Sign in at camisual.com, click "New Design", and choose Custom Size. Enter 1050 wide by 600 tall for a US card at 2x resolution.
- 2
Design the background
In Shape mode, draw a full-canvas rectangle. Set your brand colour as the fill. Minimal business cards (white background, accent colour) are always popular and look professional. Bold-coloured cards stand out in a card holder.
- 3
Add your name
Click "Add" then "Add Text". Type your full name. This should be the largest text on the card, at around 40 to 50pt. Use a bold font in your brand colour or a contrasting colour.
- 4
Add your job title
Add a second text object directly below your name with your job title in a smaller size, around 20 to 24pt. Use a lighter font weight to create a visual hierarchy.
- 5
Add your contact details
Add separate text objects for your email, phone number, website, and LinkedIn handle. Use a small, clean font at around 16 to 18pt. Space them neatly in a column. Keep phone and email on separate lines.
- 6
Add your logo
Upload your logo and position it in a corner or alongside your name. Make sure it is visible and legible at card size.
- 7
Design the back (optional)
Duplicate the design via your dashboard. Design the back as a bold version: large logo on a full-colour background with your tagline. A striking back is memorable and gives context to the front details.
- 8
Export as PNG at 2x
Export each side as PNG at 2x scale (which outputs at 2100x1200px at 300 DPI equivalent). This meets most print service resolution requirements.
What to leave off
A common mistake is trying to fit too much information onto a business card. Leave off your full postal address unless it is essential, reduce social media handles to one or two most relevant, and avoid small decorative elements that will not be legible at card size.
Add a 3mm bleed around the canvas and keep text at least 5mm from each edge. Printers trim cards with slight variation so elements too close to the edge risk being cut off.
