How object removal works in Camisual

Instead of making precise selections, you simply paint a rough mask over the object you want removed. Camisual sends this to an AI model that analyses the surrounding pixels and fills the painted area with a realistic replacement. The result is seamless in most cases and takes a few seconds.

Step-by-step: Remove an object from a photo

  1. 1

Open a new design and upload your photo

Sign in at camisual.com, click "New Design" on your dashboard, then click "Add" in the top menu and choose "Upload Image". Your photo will appear on the canvas.

  2. 2

    Select the image

Click on the photo on the canvas to select it. You will see selection handles appear around the edges.

  3. 3

    Open the Image Editor

In the left control panel, find the "Images" section and click "Edit Image". This opens the full Image Editor panel.

  4. 4

    Go to the Objects tab

In the Image Editor toolbar at the top, click the "Objects" tab. This is the AI object removal and segmentation tool.

  5. 5

Paint over the object you want removed

Use the brush in the Objects panel to paint over the area you want removed. You do not need to be precise. Paint a rough mask that covers the object fully. Adjust the brush size as needed using the size slider.

  6. 6

    Run the removal

Click the "Remove Object" or "Erase" button (shown below your painted mask). The AI will process the image and fill the marked area. This typically takes 3 to 10 seconds.

  7. 7

    Review and apply

Check the preview. If the result is clean, click "Apply". If you see artefacts, you can undo and try again with a slightly different mask shape. Then export your finished photo as PNG or JPG.

What can you remove?

The tool works well for removing people in the background, logos and watermarks, signs and text overlays, vehicles, litter, power lines and cables, and unwanted objects in product photos. Results vary depending on how complex the background is.

Tip

For best results, keep the painted mask slightly larger than the object. The AI uses the surrounding pixels to fill the area, so giving it a clear boundary helps.

Pixel-level erasing for fine control

If the AI result needs a little cleaning up, switch to Erase mode using the mode switcher at the top of the editor (Select / Draw / Sample / Shape / Erase / Hand). With Erase mode active, select your image layer in the left panel and use the eraser brush to clean up small imperfections at the pixel level.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is AI object removal free in Camisual?+
Yes. The AI object removal tool in the Image Editor Objects tab is included on the free plan with no credit system.
How precise does my brush mask need to be?+
You do not need to be precise. Paint a rough mask that fully covers the object. The AI uses the surrounding area to reconstruct a natural-looking fill, so a slightly oversized mask usually works better than a tight one.
What if the removal leaves visible artefacts?+
Undo the removal with Ctrl+Z and try again with a slightly different mask shape. You can also use Erase mode after applying to clean up small remaining pixels manually with a brush.
Can Camisual remove text overlays, logos, or watermarks from photos?+
Yes. The Objects tab works on text overlays, logos, watermarks, and any other unwanted element as long as the area being filled has a reasonably consistent background for the AI to reconstruct.
